Job Description:

The College of Journalism and Communications (CJC) at the University of Florida seeks to hire an Assistant In/Associate In Sports Broadcasting faculty position within the Innovation News Center (INC) (12-month, non-tenure track) to begin for the Spring 2025 term. We are particularly interested in candidates who understand sports broadcast journalism and have experience with multiple platforms including social media in a commercial, non-commercial or sports team/organizational media setting. We invite applicants who have prior teaching/mentoring experience (preferred), in addition to candidates who understand the sports journalism, broadcast and sports media ecosystem. Candidates should hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in journalism, media, communication or a related field. Candidates may have the opportunity to teach both undergraduate and graduate classes, and we would especially welcome applicants with the ability to teach multiple courses in the program, including the ability to develop new courses. The selected candidate will teach the equivalent of two three-credit-hour courses per semester, mentor and advise undergraduate students as assigned, manage student content creation with the INC, participate in scholarly and professional organizations, create/host broadcast content on WRUF platforms, overseeing and scheduling student content coverage for WRUF and WUFT, collaborate with fellow managers within the INC, participate in shared governance and perform other duties as assigned. This is an in-person position based in Gainesville, Fla., and will be designated as an essential employee.

Minimum Requirements:

* A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Media, Communication(s) or related fields

* Five years of professional experience in sports broadcasting or communications

Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Journalism, Media, Communication(s) or related fields

* Experience teaching in higher education

* A national reputation for excellence in sports broadcasting/media

* Demonstrated strong sports broadcast/hosting skills

* Experience with Adobe Suite, ENPS, NewsBoss, WordPress or similar programs

* Ability to oversee content creation and distribution on multiple platforms

* Capability to engage and mentor students in sports broadcasting/content creation best practices and techniques
