Established in Tampa, Florida, and now expanding in Dallas, Texas, Brakin Out Inc. specializes in mentorship programs addressing lack of self-esteem, LGBT+ coming out, relationships, peer-to-peer support, family or self-hurt issues, and bullying.
Brakin Out Inc. is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a Board Member, you will be at the forefront of guiding the strategic direction of our organization, ensuring effective governance, and championing our mission to provide second chances and mentorship to at-risk youth. Job Description Key Responsibilities: - Strategic Planning: Collaborate with other board members and the executive team to set the organization's strategic goals and direction.
- Governance: Ensure the organization adheres to legal and ethical standards, including compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor the financial health of the organization, participate in budgeting processes, and ensure proper financial controls are in place.
- Fundraising and Resource Development: Assist in securing financial resources through fundraising efforts, donor engagement, and grant writing.
- Advocacy and Outreach: Represent Brakin Out Inc. in the community, building relationships with stakeholders, partners, and potential donors.
- Program Oversight: Provide guidance and support for program development and evaluation, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
- Board Development: Participate in the recruitment, orientation, and training of new board members. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the board.
Qualifications Qualifications: - Commitment to Mission: A strong belief in Brakin Out Inc.'s mission to provide mentorship and second chances to at-risk youth.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit management, business, law, finance, education, social work, or a related field preferred.
- Professional Experience: Significant experience in nonprofit management, business, law, finance, education, social work, or a related field.
- Leadership Skills: Proven leadership abilities, strategic thinking, and the capacity to work collaboratively.
- Fundraising Experience: Demonstrated experience in fundraising, donor relations, and resource development.
- Community Involvement: Strong connections within the community and a willingness to leverage personal and professional networks for the benefit of the organization.
- Time Commitment: Ability to commit to attending regular board meetings, participating in committee work, and engaging in fundraising and outreach activities.
